b1007 replace notification systems
Project Overview
This Design-Build project, was performed at a multi-floor Medical Clinic servicing Great Lakes Naval Station Recruit Training Facility.
ONeill provided the design and installation of an Integrated Fire Alarm and Mass Notification System, capable of notifying building occupants of the existence of an emergency situation and instructing people of the necessary and appropriate response and action.
Also provided was a Public Paging System which was interconnected to the building’s telephone system for telephone paging into separate and multiple discrete physical zones aligned with the Nurse Call Zoning.
Additionally, a Nurse Call NCTV System zoned in to 8 separate areas as well as Radiation Detection Monitoring and Alert Systems at all entrances to the building.
ONeill also provided software to implement future changes to the MNFA system, the public address system, and the Nurse Call Station.
ONeill provided the Project Management, SSHO, Quality Control Manager, and self-performed all Infection Control, Demolition, Tile, Masonry, Drywall and Painting.
Fire Alarm
Removal of existing fire alarm devices, wiring, conduit, panels, and appurtenances; and repair destructive measures taken in demolition of existing and construction of new fire alarm system
Installation of fire stopping at all new penetrations through walls, flooring, and ceilings; provide new finishes to match existing floor and wall tile, carpeting, paint, wall protection, brick, and paint.
Provide fire alarm and mass notification control panel (ACU/FACP), remote fire alarm annunciator panel (FAAP), remote power booster panels, and local operator console (LOC), and all new wiring and conduits for each. New narrowband signal communications radio transmitter. New smoke and heat detectors, manual stations, duct smoke detectors, audio/visual alarms and LED signs, electrical supervision of sprinkler system alarms and supervisory devices and addressable HVAC shutdown relays. Addressable duct smoke detectors and dry‐contact fire alarm relays for the pneumatically controlled fire/smoke dampers.
Testing, training, and certification of all new systems, including audibility and intelligibility testing in accordance with NAVFAC and NFPA standards.
Public Address Signaling
Provide new public‐address system compliant with the requirements of UFC 4‐510‐01. Installation of PA system was divided into the same 8 zones as the NCTV.
In addition to zone specific paging; wide area paging (mass notification system) was installed in all areas on the first floor or all areas on the second floor or all areas on both floors.
LED Display Monitors were installed throughout the building.
Nurse Call
Removal of existing Nurse Call system and all associated devises, wire, and conduit; and repair destructive measures taken in demolition of existing and construction of new nurse call system
Provide new UL 1069 listed Nurse Call Tone‐Visual (NCTV) System constructed in accordance with UFC 1‐200‐01, and UFC4‐510‐01 and according to Navy criteria and standards.
NCTV System installed was divided into 8 distinct zones on 2 floors.
Zone 1 - Emergency Room
Zone 2 - Primary Care
Zone 3 - Radiology
Zone 4 - Female Wellness
Zone 5 - Physical Therapy
Zone 6 - Special Physical
Zone 7 - Behavioral Health
Zone 8 - Laboratory and Pharmacy
Radiation detection
Provide new digital wall-mounted Area Radiation Detectors (ARDs) devices at all entry locations for both low-level radiation alarm and high-level radiation alarm settings in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations.
